Socialete: So we made it to your event, On the Verge and we have to say that was one of the better events we’ve been to in Boston.

Brett: Well I really appreciate the feedback. It really took us a long time to put it together obvious and we put in a ton of hard work, time, sweat & tears… and to get feedback like that is great and means a lot.

Socialete: Well you deserve it Brett. How long were you planning it for?

Brett: We planned it for about two and half months. The initial thoughts were at the beginning of the year but we really put it together in a short amount of time.

Socialete: So in that planning what was the toughest part? …and you can’t say all of it.

Brett: Haha. There really wasn’t any easy part about it. You know there’s so many little details that you kinda have to go over. But because of our relationship with Karmaloop we were able to put the pieces of the puzzle together. The support of the people around us, our team and the Karmaloop team made it all possible and we managed to fit all the pieces together.

Socialete: That’s great. We know how difficult planning an event can be so props to you for doing it perfectly. So why don’t you tell us about your background and a little about eMuze.

Brett: So I had worked in LA at one of the major entertainment agencies so I got a great understanding of how agencies in the entertainment industry work, kinda from a backend point of view and seeing how all the gears work. This is when I came up with the idea for eMuze about a year and a half ago and really put it all together. The best way to describe it is our mission which is “be connected, be discovered, be eMuzed.” We are aiming to help aspiring talent to connect with their fan base, connect with other artists in their industry and connect with other professionals in the industry.

Socialete: How important are these connections?

Brett: The industry is VERY hard to get into right now and it’s important to build authentic connections. Basically every intern I worked with “knew” someone at the agency. It’s not only about the connections either…we also really want to allow individuals, not just talent, to be able to do what they want. So we’re building an online platform that will launch this June, along with our own management division. All these different parts fit together really nicely.

Socialete: Well it sounds like you have it all figured out! Now let’s talk about your connection with Karmaloop and how that’s helped you launch?

Brett: Karmaloop has really been amazing and really allowed us to learn quickly. Greg Selkoe has been a great mentor and his entrepreneurial spirit has really helped me. As you know 12 years ago he started Karmaloop in his mom’s basement and look at it now. Encouraging that spirit and allowing individuals like myself to take that next step is amazing. We’re actually moving into there office soon and an entrepreneur couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Socialete: We know what you mean. That must be great! How about a personal question now? What’s your favorite out of work activity?

Brett: I love two things: 1) exploring new restaurants and trying new cuisines. 2) Going to movies and plays and keeping up with new releases… and I’m also big tech geek.

Socialete: Don’t worry, we won’t tell… So how is your team and are you looking to grow it?

Brett: We’ve been blessed and have a great team, great board of advisers and great lawyers. It really makes everything easier. In the next month or so we’re really going to be looking for some more team members to accelerate the growth of the company. I’m really looking forward to it!

Skrillex, Nicky Romero and Christian Arango opening Memorial weekend! They are dropping some serious cash to make that weekend out-of-control.

If you’re like us, you’ll be at EDC NYC the weekend before. Hitting up the Ocean Club seems like the only logical continuation of that insane party. Tickets are a little pricey but hell… you only live once.

Then they’re bringing back the best Sundays in town, OC Sundays. The weather is beautiful, beach sand is mint, the club is packed with wild partiers and big name DJ’s are always throwing down.

So far they’ve released the first 3 Sundays:

Boston, now you only need to get about 10 more venues like Ocean Club and you’ll become the northern Miami.

Cinco de Mayo is no different. There’s obviously tons of parties going on this Saturday…but here are a few pre-gamers to get you warmed up.

1. The Cinco de Mayo Pub Crawl from 2:00-7:00pm at Faneuil Hall will be out of control like any Boston bar crawl. Participants get a T-shirt and wrist bands to avoid cover at the bars.  Drinks will be available from $1.75 – $5 and food be at some stops.
2. District Lounge will be featuring Tres Amigos, Dos Equis and Patron drinks all day.
3. Daisy Buchanan’s on Newbury Street will have specials on Mexican favorites including mojitos, margaritas, and Corona.
4. Bauer Wine and Spirits on Newbury Street will have a Tanteo Tequila tasting as well as a Latin American wine tasting.
5. At Gordon’s Fine Wine & Culinary Center in Waltham from 2:00-3:30pm will host an Ion Chef style class, who will battle to create the best margarita recipe.

Performances from the likes of Radical Something, Aziz (see video), De-Lor and Missy Modell kept the crowd excited throughout the event.

The judges picked one lucky designer, Ava Hashemi, to get her own line at Karmaloop… Not a bad prize. And when the contest was over, the guests got another great surprise and left with a gift bags full of Karmaloop swag, a G-Form iPhone case and a pair of sweet Neff sunglasses.
